Elders, Deacons, & Minister
ELDERS
Our congregation is autonomous, that is to say that we are an individual congregation of the
Lord's church, under the headship of only Jesus Christ.   To be autonomous is to be self-
determining.  While we are bound to other congregations of the Lord's church by our
common beliefs, we have no earthly headquarters, no national board, follow no human
creed, and are completely self governing.

And in following the commands of the Bible, and the pattern of the church in the New
Testament, our congregation is under the guidance of a group of Godly men known as
Elders or Pastors.

Paul and Barnabas appointed elders  for them in each church and, with prayer and
fasting, committed them to the Lord, in whom they had put their trust.
                                                            Acts 14:23 NIV

The elders who direct the affairs of the church well are worthy of double honor,
                                                         1 Timothy 5:17 NIV

The reason I left you in Crete was that you might straighten out what was left unfinished
and appoint elders in every town, as I directed you.
                                                         Titus 1:5 NIV

6 An elder must be blameless, the husband of but one wife, a man whose children believe
and are not open to the charge of being wild and disobedient. 7 Since an overseer is
entrusted with God's work, he must be blameless — not overbearing, not quick-tempered,
not given to drunkenness, not violent, not pursuing dishonest gain. 8 Rather he must be
hospitable, one who loves what is good, who is self-controlled, upright, holy and
disciplined. 9 He must hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so
that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it.
                                                        Titus 1:6-9 NIV

We have a committed group of 5 Godly men who serve as Elders over our congregation.
(Please see Elders Deacons Minister Page)

DEACONS
We also have a dedicated group of men known as Deacons who serve the congregation.
The deacons are responsible for the everyday operation of the congregation, seeing to the
implementation of programs, building maintenance, worship service organization, etc.

8 Deacons , likewise, are to be men worthy of respect, sincere, not indulging in much
wine, and not pursuing dishonest gain. 9 They must keep hold of the deep truths of the
faith with a clear conscience. 10 They must first be tested; and then if there is nothing
against them, let them serve as deacons .
11 In the same way, their wives are to be women worthy of respect, not malicious talkers
but temperate and trustworthy in everything.
12 A deacon must be the husband of but one wife and must manage his children and his
household well. 13 Those who have served well gain an excellent standing and great
assurance in their faith in Christ Jesus.
                                                            1 Timothy 3:8-13 NIV

Our congregation is served by 5 deacons. (Please see Elders Deacons Minister Page)

PREACHER/MINISTER
Our Congregation is served by a full-time minister who works directly under the guidance
and approval of our Elders.  His responsibilities are to prepare and present sound Biblical
sermons and serve the members of the congregation in whatever capacity is needed.

2 Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and
encourage — with great patience and careful instruction.
                                                           1 Timothy 4:2 NIV

14 How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they
believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone
preaching to them? 15 And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written,
"How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!"
                                                        Romans 10:14-15 NIV
